Louisiana man detained on federal turtle trafficking charges in San Francisco

Albert Bazaar, formerly of Louisiana, was ordered held in custody on charges of trafficking turtles. An indictment unsealed in San Francisco charges him with conspiracy and Lacey Act violations. The indictment alleges he poached and sold over 1,700 loggerhead musk turtles and 100 stripe-neck turtles between January 2022 and December 2023.
